Hi friends! It’s more than halfway through 2019 and I haven’t gained a pound. I’ve also been steadily losing weight without dieting. It’s been a few years now since I’ve embraced intermittent fasting, so rarely do I eat my first meal before 11AM. I’ll have a cup a coffee with oat or soy milk, and always sans sugar. I’ve never had any success with dieting or starving myself (you should never starve yourself). Now I firmly believe in eating well and choosing more whole plant-based meals.

As a busy mom who manages the household and work part-time, I’ve often relied on Splendid Spoon’s nutrient dense plant-based meal service to eat well. Busy doesn’t mean I, or you, have to be unhealthy. Busy can be healthy too.

What is Splendid Spoon

Splendid Spoon is a company based in Brooklyn, New York. Nicole Centeno founded Splendid Spoon, and she once struggled with an eating disorder. Now her company’s mission is to help people feel good about food again, and nourish our bodies with at least one plant-based meal a day. Splendid Spoon’s meals are not part of a fad diet. It’s a habit and life changer.

What does Splendid Spoon Offer?

Splendid Spoon offers pre-cooked meals (soups and smoothies) made with non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free, and mostly organic ingredients.

Splendid Spoon does not put sugar in their smoothies. The smoothies are packed with superfoods, protein and fiber (your colon will be happy). You start your mornings giving your metabolism a kickstart, and your body a jolt of energy.

There are 12 different smoothie flavors, 22 soup flavors, and 9 sippable soup flavors to choose from. My two favorite smoothies are AB and J and Chocolate Cherry. The Chocolate Cherry Smoothie has 5 grams of fiber! These are two of Splendid Spoon’s sweeter smoothies. if you like tarter or tangier smoothies, try Blackberry Basil or Orange Hibiscus. I also love the Plant-based Probiotic Smoothie. It’s packed with probiotics. I’ve always wished that all of Splendid Spoon’s smoothies contained probiotics.

Can you shed weight with Splendid Spoon?

Many ask, “Will I lose weight with Splendid Spoon?” People who have tried Splendid Spoon have shed pounds. I think you will lose weight if you eat predominantly Splendid Spoon meals, and a healthy meal at dinner. Weight loss occurs when you eat well and portion out your food. You’ll also have to exercise of course. Splendid Spoon is not a fad diet. It’s not magic. Weight loss is about eating healthy, whole plant-based meals that are pre-portioned. You can’t have a Splendid Spoon smoothie along with a bagel or croissant and expect to shed pounds. The smoothie is your breakfast. The soup is your lunch. And you can have healthy snacks in between, like nuts, fruits or veggies.

I firmly believe we should love who we are, and love and appreciate our bodies, but the fact is, high body mass index (BMI) and obesity are associated with higher risks of mortality (death) and morbidity (disease) such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, sleep apnea, cancer, and urinary incontinence. Losing weight is about gaining health, and not about hating on our bodies, or adoring/loving certain body types over others.

Is Splendid Spoon healthy?

Splendid Spoon is absolutely healthy. Do you rather take a pill that comes with side effects in order to lose weight, or eat real plant-based foods that have already been prepared and cooked for you? Splendid Spoon uses mostly organic and high-quality ingredients that are packed with nutrients, protein and fiber. You’ll be nourished with nutritious smoothies, feel full with their vegan grain bowls, and definitely warm all winter long with their lovely soups. #busycanbehealthy

Does Splendid Spoon taste good?

Heck yes! Splendid Spoon is good, it tastes good, and it’s good for you! The beauty about Splendid Spoon is that you can customize your pre-cooked meals. I love adding more veggies such as scallions and radishes into my soups. I have also added cheese or garlic into some of my soups. You can have the soups chilled and they’ll be super refreshing in the summer, or cook them stovetop or in the microwave, just in their BPA-free containers. You can also mix add-ins into your smoothies, like collagen, more nut butters, fruits, or protein powder.

What I eat when I’m not eating Splendid Spoon Meals

Lots of plants and veggies, and fermented foods like natto beans, seaweed salad, and kimchi! And you don’t have to stick to having smoothies for breakfast and soups for lunch. You can have a fruit salad for breakfast one day, your smoothie as your lunch, and your soup as your dinner. Or if you do intermittent fasting like I do, you can have the smoothie as your first meal, and your soup as your last meal. The beauty about Splendid Spoon is that you can be flexible.

My friends, have you tried Splendid Spoon? Are you thinking of trying Splendid Spoon? Let me know if you have any questions, or any comments! I’ve been a fan of Splendid Spoon since 2017. Pretty sure I’ll be a lifelong fan!

Is Splendid Spoon Healthy?

You’re eating fruits, grains, and vegetables instead of highly-processed foods that are high in animal protein, fats, added sugars, and empty calories! You don’t need to make every meal a Splendid Spoon meal. With just one smoothie, one soup, or one grain bowl, you’re adding a lot more fiber and nutrients to your diet. How long do Splendid Spoon Soups Last?

I’ve had a soup in my fridge for over a week, and they still taste great. The grain bowls, however, should be eaten within two to three days of receiving them. I’ve had a grain bowl ferment a bit after being in my fridge for over a week. The smoothies- also try to drink them within a few days of receiving them!
