Why the Allbirds Dasher is my go-to runner and favorite summer shoes

Hi friends! My journey toward a sock-less life continues. I’m happy to report that I can not remember the last time I picked up a pair of socks. My feet have never been happier.

This summer, I’ve been wearing my all-new pair of Allbirds Tree Dashers and I love how easy it is to slip them on, wear them without socks, and walk, jog or run in them. I fell in love with my light green pair with a light green sole, a “limited edition” color called Cyclone.

Allbirds describes the Tree Dashers as their most technical shoe yet… “The Tree Dasher reimagines the traditional running shoe with natural materials engineered for serious performance.

  • Heel Drop: 7mm (Forefoot: 15.5mm, Heel: 22.5mm)

  • Type: Neutral, Cushioned, Light Stability Running Shoe”

Sizing

Allbirds suggest you go up in half sizes, and even up by one size if you have wider feet. I usually wear size 8 US in women’s. I purchased a size 8 and the Dashers fit me well. I never wear socks with my Allbirds shoes. If you intend to wear socks and have wider feet, I suggest you sizing up by half a size.

Pricing

A pair of Allbirds Dashers will set you back $125 (USD). This price places the Allbirds Dashers at a pricier end for women’s running shoes.

Materials

The Allbirds Tree Dashers are made from sustainably-sourced materials:

  • “The SweetFoam™ midsole is made with the world’s first carbon-negative green EVA.”

  • “Removable castor bean sock liner emits less carbon than petroleum-based foam and is contoured to provide flexible, anatomical support.”

  • “A unique one-piece upper made from FSC® Certified eucalyptus trees for a perfect fit that’s flexible, lightweight, and breathable in every step.”

  • “Signature ZQ Merino wool along the heel counter to center, support, and lock the foot in place.”

This is not a vegan shoe.

What I love about the Allbirds Tree Dashers

  • How incredibly light and soft the Dashers are

  • How they are odor-resistant

  • How my feet did not feet hot in the Tree Dashers

  • How comfortable they are

  • How I can easily care for the shoes (machine-washable)

  • The amazing exchange/return policy and customer service

What we don’t love about the Allbirds Tree Dashers

  • They are pricey, and $30 more than the Allbirds Runners

  • The toe humps! Allbirds, please solve this aesthetic issue! Also, many people have run their big toes through the tops of their Allbirds.

Returns and exchanges are easy

“Free shipping on orders over $50, and our 30 days, no questions asked return policy. Lightly worn shoes get donated to Soles4Souls.”-allbirds.com

Care Guide

Allbirds Dashers don’t get dirty easily, and are simple to care for. When there’s visible dirt, take a damp cloth and wipe off the dirt. When they become smelly and it’s time to wash them, toss them into a washing machine. “Pull out the insoles and laces. Slip your shoes into a delicates bag and toss them in the washing machine—gentle cycle with cold water with your favorite mild detergent. When they’re done, shake off any excess water and let them air dry.

Handy tips: Don’t put them in the dryer. And don’t worry, they’ll go back to their original shape in no time. You can hand wash your laces and insoles on their own.”-allbirds.com

Some people like to place ice into the washing machine when they are washing their shoes.

Bunions?

I believe the Tree Dashers come wide enough for people with bunions. They are also stretchable and conform to your feet.

Flat Feet?

I have flat wide feet, and the Allbirds Tree Dashers feel just right for me!

Return Yay or Nay?

I kept my Allbirds Tree Dashers! Let us know if you have a pair, and how they feel! Happy walking and shoe hunting, friends!
