Post updated 2/3/2020: Hi friends! Did you overindulge this holiday season? I know I did! Home-baked cakes and scones, extra cranberry sauce, green beans with shallots, pasta, rice, holiday turkey and ham! I will admit to eating it all! This holiday season, I have allowed myself to cheat on my good eating habits, but it’s now time to eat well again and kickstart my holiday and new year weight loss (or weight maintenance). Eating well is a lifestyle. It’s not about starving, or pure dieting. It’s about choosing the right foods to put into your bodies. It’s also about eating in moderation, and thinking about our planet when we eat. As humans, we’re engineered to seek out the fattiest and sweetest foods to ensure our survival. That’s why it’s so hard for us to say no to a hot seared steak, a piece of decadent cake, bacon, and French fries. It’s up to us to change our palates and preferences, to learn to crave veggies and fruits, and to make better food choices.

Luckily I’m not doing this alone, and you don’t have to either. I have my trusty Splendid Spoon fully-prepared meals to help me along the way, especially on days when I’m too busy to cook a full meal, or when I wake up too late to put together a sack lunch for work. #busycanbehealthy

How I use Splendid Spoon may look different from how you might use Splendid Spoon. For many years now, I intermittently fast. I eat my first meal at 11AM and I try not to eat after 8PM. This gives me a window of about 9 hours to eat. I technically don’t eat breakfast, and have two full meals a day: lunch and dinner. In 2019, I have not gained a pound. I am also steadily shedding weight! (I also exercise moderately, mostly through my work with children as a physical therapist. I don’t drink fruit juices, sodas, and snack very lightly.)

For lunch, I may have a Splendid Spoon smoothie and a grain bowl, or a soup and a smoothie. For dinner, I either cook our meals or we eat out together as a family. When I’m not having a Splendid Spoon meal for lunch, I eat a veggie-packed meal.

Do you really lose weight on Splendid Spoon?

On the weekends, if I’m feeling generous, I will share a grain bowl with my husband, and he can have one of my smoothies. (lol) We love pouring our smoothies into a glass with ice, and plating our pretty grain bowls!

Here is the Splendid Spoon Brown Rice Taco Bowl. It’s a Tex-Mex inspired meal packed with magnesium and vitamin C, and complete with black bean sauce, pepitas, brown rice, and red peppers. I added sweet and red potato chips and topped the bowl with nutritional yeast (it tastes like vegan parmesan cheese!).

Is Splendid Spoon dairy free?

Yes! Their smoothies, grain bowls and soups are made with completely vegan ingredients, which means you won’t find any dairy products in their products. Splendid Spoon is also gluten-free and GMO-free. The smoothies do not have added sugars.

Is Splendid Spoon organic?

A majority of the ingredients used in Splendid Spoon smoothies are organic, but their meals are not fully organic as of right now.

How long do Splendid Spoon soups last?

In the refrigerator, my soups have lasted for at least a week and still tasted fine. If you want them to last longer, you can freeze them. The smoothies taste freshest when you consume them within a few days of receiving your delivery.

Is Splendid Spoon worth it?

Splendid Spoon is definitely worth it especially with $25 off your first meal plan. You can stop your delivery orders or cancel your subscription if you feel Splendid Spoon is not right for you. How can you skip a delivery?

Is it bad to eat soup everyday?

Some people drink and eat soup everyday. It depends on what soup you’re eating. Is it soup packed with sodium, cream, and other fats? Or is it a nice vegetable broth with veggies? Healthy and hearty soups should be OK for everyday consumption, but please consult your primary care physician, nutritionist, or other doctor before starting any new diets.

Which Splendid Spoon smoothies taste the best?

My five favorite smoothies (out of 13 available) from Splendid Spoon taste sweeter than their other smoothies. I do have a sweet tooth! My top five favorite smoothies are: Banana Flax, Chocolate Cherry, Blueberry Coconut, Cacao Almond, and Raspberry Cacao.

How many calories are in Splendid spoon?

The grain bowls are about 350 calories each (per full serving). The smoothies are usually under 300 calories (per full serving).

Are the Splendid Spoon containers BPA-free?

Yes they are! They are also reusable and recyclable, and microwavable. I tend to eat my soups straight from the container, without reheating them in the stove or microwave.

Weight Watchers and Splendid Spoon?

Recycling the Splendid Spoon Packaging

You can recycle everything you take out of the Splendid Spoon delivery box, including all the containers and cardboard. Splendid Spoon uses dry ice to keep your meals frosty during the delivery process. The dry ice usually evaporates and disappears during transit, but some may remain. Be sure to never touch dry ice with your bare hands!
